Three different methods of composting (no reverse, 2xreverse, 5xrevers) were conducted in summer and winter over a period of 62 days with respect to the survival of endoparasites.
Highest temperatures were reached in compost hills without reversing. Reversing lowered the temperature. Maximum temperatures were almost 70°C but in winter highest temperatures nearly reached 55°C. After two weeks of composting in winter temperatures were always under 40°C.
In summer no parasitic larvae could be detected at the end of the trial independent of reverse frequency. In winter larvae could be counted at the end of the trial.
