Es wird eine Recherche zu Umfang und Bedeutung des weltweiten Anbaues von Öko-Hopfen präsentiert. Mit Stand der Ernte 2011 wurde weltweit in 13 Hopfenbaunationen Öko-Hopfen auf einer Gesamtfläche von etwa 220 ha produziert. Die wichtigsten Länder waren dabei, analog zur konventionellen Produktion, Deutschland mit 81 ha und die USA mit geschätzten 60 ha. Die Öko-Hopfenfläche Europas betrug insgesamt knapp 148 ha. Zum Anbau kommen zumindest in Europa vor allem Aromasorten. Die marktwirtschaftliche Bedeutung des global produzierten Öko-Hopfens ist in Relation zur konventionellen Produktion noch sehr gering und umfasst derzeit knapp 0,4 % der weltweiten Gesamtfläche und etwa 0,3 % der weltweiten Erntemenge.

This is an investigation concerning the extent and the relevance of worldwide organic hop growing. According to current information from the 2011 harvest, organic hops were produced in 13 countries worldwide on an overall area of ca. 220 ha. Just as in conventional hop growing, the most important countries were Germany with 81 ha, and the USA with estimated 60 ha. In Europe, the area under crop added up to 148 ha of organic hops. The varieties grown, at least in Europe, are chiefly of the aroma-type. Compared to conventional hop growing, the economic relevance of organic hops is very small and comprises less than 0.4 % of the world's hop acreage and approximately 0.3 % of the world's hop production.
