Summary
Com intuito de dar um sentido lato ao estudo do solo efetuou-se, com esta pesquisa, uma sobreposição de dois tipos de conhecimentos: o técnico-científico e o empírico adquirido pelo agricultor. Empregando-se os instrumentais analíticos da ciência agronômica atual e os princípios da agroecologia, estabeleceu-se comparações de indicadores de uso e manejo do solo entre quinze estabelecimentos familiares com bases técnicas de produção de hortaliças diferenciadas (químico-convencional, em transição e orgânica) das idades de Cotia, Vargem Grande Paulista e Ibiúna - SP. As avaliações foram baseadas em análises quantitativas e qualitativas. A primeira se referiu às análises químicas (macro e micronutrientes), físicas (porosidade total e densidade global) e biológicas (contagem da população de minhocas). Essas análises foram efetuadas em canteiros (100m2 cultivados com brássicas no inicio e final do cultivo (inverno de 1998 e verão de 1999). A segunda se referiu à anà1ise das percepções que os agricultores têm do solo, identificando os "graus de sensibilidade" ao uso desse fator enquanto um recurso natural com características físico-químicas e biológicas. Para tanto foram considerados os depoimentos dos agricultores, explorando, na medida do possível, os aspectos considerados nas análises de solo. A análise qualitativa foi avaliada mediante entrevistas registradas em questionários e gravações. O direcionamento principal foram as observações e os conhecimentos adquiridos pelos agricultores nas suas convivências com os seus ambientes, principalmente o solo. Como resultados das análises quantitativas, observou-se que o solo tratado com manejo orgânico apresentou qualidade superior aos demais grupos (químico-convencional e transição). Entretanto, na segunda análise (final do cultivo) observou-se que o solo dos estabelecimentos em transição teve seus atributos químicos e biológicos melhorados significativamente. Este mesmo grupo obteve maior percepção geral do solo que os outros dois, que não diferiram significativamente entre si, apenas em alguns temas. Com a justaposição destes enfoques contribuiu-se para o aprofundamento da pesquisa científica agronômica, incrementando o corpo tecnológico e de conhecimentos necessário para a formação de uma agricultura de base verdadeiramente sustentável.
Summary translation
With the purpose to give a broad direction to the study of the soil, this research, was made with overlapping of two types of knowledge: technical-scientific and the empirism acquired by the family farmers. Using the analytical instruments of current agronomy scíence and the principles of the agro ecology, comparisons of indicators use and hantling of the soil with fífteen families' establishments with techinical basis of production of differentiated herbs (chemical-conventional, transitional, and organic) of the cities of Cotia, Vargem Grande Paulista and Ibiúna - SP, were established. The evaluations were based on quantitative and qualitative analyses. The first one was related to the chemical analysis (macro and
micronutrients), physical (total porosity and global density) and biological (the population of earthworms count). These analyses were carried out in seedbeds (100m2) cultivated with brassicas in the beginning and the end of the culture (winter 1998 and summer 1999). The second one was related to the analysis of the perceptions that the family farmers have of the soil, identifying the "degrees of sensitivity" concerning the use of this factor, under a natural resource with biological and physical-chemical characteristi. For such a way, testimonies of producer, exploring to the fullest extent the aspects taken into consideration in the soil analysies, were considered. The qualitative analysis was evaluated by interviews, registered in questionnaires and recorded tapes. The main goal of these was the comments and the knowledge acquired by the producers in their relationship with the environment, mainly the soil. As results of the quantitative analyses, it was observed that the land treated with organic handling presents upper qualíty to the rest of the groups (chemical-conventional and transitional). However, in the second analysis (crop final stage) it was observed that the soil of the establishments in transition had its chemical and biological attributes improved significantly. This exactly group without higher general perception of the land than the other two, without significant diferences between them, only in some aspects. The overlapping of these approaches contributed to increase the agronomy scientific research, creating a proper technological body and knowledge for the forrnation of a truly sustainable based agriculture.
