Infektionen mit Endorparasiten, insbesondere mit Magen-Darm-Strogyliden (MDS), sind oft ein limitierender Faktor in der Entwicklung und Produktivität von erststömmrigen Rindern. Diese Infektionen haben somit große wirtschaftliche Bedeutung. Die bisher weitverbreitet durchgeführte strategische Entwurmung (planmäßiger Einsatz von Medikamenten) ganzer Herden sollte aus verschiedenen Gründen angepasst werden.
Summary translation
Endoparasitic infections, especially infections with gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN), are the most costly constraints on the performance and productivity of firstseason grazing cattle. Based on the increase of anthelmintic resistance, systemic treatment of whole flocks is no longer justifiable.
Furthermore in Organic Farming prophylactic anthelmintic treatment is not permitted any more. As a result there is the need to develop other parasitic management-strategies.
Targeted Selective Treatment (TST) is one of the alternativ control-strategies; heavily infected animals should be treated on a selective basis. This approach has been tested in various studies; to identify heavily infected animals seems to be the most difficult factor.
