Summary
Summary translation
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the long term effect of subsoiling on plant grow and soil structure. By measuring germinate, reflectance, yield, and weight of thousand corns and percent distribution of clover mixture and penetration resistance. The operation of the subsoiling was completed in the summer of 2001, by excavation, lift loosening and as reference ploughing. Two kind of intercropping was seeded, both of them with clover mixture.
From literature it was expected that subsoiling would improve the soil structure and that it would make the growing conditions better for the plants and that the yield would bee increased ect.
One season after subsoiling the penetration resistance showed that subsoiling gave a superior loosening effect then ploughing. The difference was not as large as the year of the subsoiling. The loosening effect became higher with the excavation than with use of lift loosening.
Earlier research show that improvement in penetration resistance give lower bulk deity and higher soil moisture content, and this can probably bee transferred to this experiment.
There was no response of germinate, yield, weight of thousand corn, part of ripe lupine and percent-distribution of clover mixture and lupine of the better penetration resistance with subsoiling. There was a low yield and germinate of all crops and the standard of reference was as a result thereof low and the conclusion is consequently unreliable.
Corn disease, unfavorable climax conditions, bad lupine sorts and the late seeding can be the reason of the non response on the lower penetration resistance where subsoiling have been done.
There was a little response on subsoiling when the reflectance was measured. Lupine/oats had the best response by lift loosening and peas/barley by excavation.
In the upper 10 cm there was a small biological soil loosing effect when the penetration resistance was measured. The effect was in the area, which earlier had been seeded with rape. The period of growth had ended premature and is perhaps the reason why the effect only was reflected in the upper 10 cm.
