Vorhabensziel
Ziel des Projektes ist es, die ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft bei ihren Bestrebungen zu unterstützen, Bio-Produkte unter Einsatz möglichst weniger Zusatzstoffe herzustellen. Der Einsatz dieser Stoffe in ökologischer Qualität soll gefördert und sinnvolle Alternativen zu Zusatzstoffen sollen zusammengetragen werden. Im Rahmen des vorliegenden Projekts soll Folgendes erarbeitet werden:
• Fachdossiers zur Notwendigkeit von bzw. Alternativen zu Zusatzstoffen
• Eine „Gute Kontroll- und Zertifizierungspraxis für Zusatz- und Hilfsstoffe“
• Marktübersicht von Bio-Zusatzstoffen mit Handlungsempfehlungen.
Arbeitsplanung
Das Projekt besteht im Wesentlichen aus drei inhaltlichen Arbeitsblöcken. 1. Fachdossiererstellung: Hier wird die Notwendigkeit der bereits zugelassenen Zusatzstoffe anhand der Kriterien der EU für die Zulassung von neuen Zusatzstoffen sowie der Erfahrungen der Verbände und Industrie geprüft und beurteilt. 2. Zertifizierungssystem: In diesem Arbeitsblock wird auf Grundlage einer Recherche vorhandener Kriterien und Systeme für die Zusatzstoffzertifizierung eine "Gute Kontroll- und Zertifizierungspraxis für Zusatzstoffe" entwickelt. 3. Marktanalyse: Bio-Verarbeiter und Zusatzstoffhersteller werden mittels Internetfragebogen und telefonischen Interviews zur Praxis der Verwendung und zur Marktsituation von Zusatzstoffen befragt. Darauf aufbauend werden eine Übersicht der Marktsituation von Bio-Zusatzstoffen sowie Handlungsempfehlungen für Bio-Verarbeiter, Zusatzstoffhersteller und Behörden erarbeitet.
Ergebnisverwertung
Die Ergebnisse werden als FiBL-Publikationen veröffentlicht. Darüber hinaus werden sie auf Fachveranstaltungen (BioFach, Wissenschaftstagung etc.) den Zielgruppen vermittelt. Die begleitende Pressearbeit dient der Information des Fachpublikums über den Verlauf des Projektes und der Veröffentlichung von relevanten (Teil-)Ergebnissen. Ergänzend wird im Internet auf einer Unterseite von Zusatzstoffe.org sowie auf Oekolandbau.de berichtet.

Project objective:
The objective of the project is to assist the organic food industry in its efforts to produce organic products in a way that makes minimum use of additives. The project will promote the use of such substances which meet organic quality standards and will assemble suitable alternatives to additives. The project will generate the following outcomes:
• Technical dossiers on the need for and alternatives to additives
• “Good inspection and certification practice for additives and processing agents”
• Market survey of organic additives, with recommendations for action.
Work structure:
The project essentially consists of three substantive packages of work.
1. Production of technical dossiers: This package will review and assess the need for those additives that are already approved, based on the criteria applied by the EU for the approval of new additives, and taking account of the experience gathered by sector associations and the industry.
2. Certification system: This package will develop “Good inspection and certification practice for additives and processing agents”, building on a survey of existing criteria and systems for the certification of additives.
3. Market analysis: Organic processors and additives producers will be questioned about the practice of additives use and the market situation of additives by means of web-based questionnaires and telephone interviews. On that basis, a survey of the market situation of organic additives will be produced, together with recommendations for action on the part of organic processors, additives producers and public authorities.
Use of results:
he results will be published as a FiBL publication. They will also be disseminated to the target groups at specialist events (BioFach trade fair, scientific conferences etc.). In-process communications work will keep the specialist public informed about the progress of the project and will serve to publish specific outcomes. In addition, the project will be reported via the Oekolandbau.de portal and on a page within the Zusatzstoffe.org site.
