Summary
The total strawberry acreage in Finland (3225 ha, 2008) is almost entirely attributed to outdoor cultivation. The prevailing weather directly influences both the quality and quantity of the yield. An increasing demand for quality berries forces growers to consider cultivation in polythene tunnels. In addition to cultivation changes, new plant protection challenges are also expected to arise as a result of a warming climate.
