Summary

Summary translation

Objective of the study:
In the context of the federal program ecological agriculture the promoted project project is to contribute to activate a purposeful dialogue between financial service providers and enterprises of the bio food branch. This dialogue is to improve the entrance to investment capital for small and medium-size entrepreneurs of the bio food branch and work against thus an existing inhibition factor for the further growth of the industry.
Questioning of 146 enterprises of the Bio food branch:
The Bio food branch has a substantial short to medium-term capital requirement for extension investments. A capital requirement inquiry with the predominantly small enterprises results in a high portion of amounts of investment of up to 100.000 €.
With the financing of growth investments the house bank financing plays a central role. Against the background the changed granting of credit conditions makes more difficult the procurement of capital over house bank credits. Current refusal reasons of credit requests are among other things missing collateral, an enterprise representation lacking and a too small own capital funds basis. Only scarcely 16% of the enterprises have sufficient own capital funds equipment.
More than two thirds of the asked entrepreneurs indicate to be not sufficiently informed about alternative financing models.
Questioning of 82 financial service providers:
The Bio food branch is not noticed of banks as independent industry. The status of information over the Bio food branch can be evaluated as insufficient.
Banks and equity investment companies indicate a transparency lacking for the enterprise representation (credit requests, business plans), which led to the refusal. This refusal reason seems, as also in other industries to meet in special way existence founder. A transparency of the market lacking was likewise specified as refusal reason.
Approximately 60% of the asked financial service providers evaluate both the future ability and the development chances of the industry with good or even very well.
