Summary

Summary translation

The 1st study of the project „Abo-Vici“ (FKZ: 2815EPS063) started on 9-10-2018 in the 22nd life week of the 400 Lohmann Brown (LB) hens in the experimental station of the Institute of Animal Welfare and Animal Husbandry FLI, Celle) and ended on 26-3-2019. The hens were allocated to 5 groups (80 hens per group) and kept in 4 pens per group. The 2nd study started on 30-07-2019 in the 22nd life week of the 400 LB-hens on the same place and ended on 14-01-2020. The hens were allocated to 4 groups (100 hens per group) and kept in 5 pens per group. From the start of the studies, feed intake of the hens was ad libitum according to the feeding group.
The results of trial 1 showed, that a partial exchange of soya as the main protein source in the feed by the addition of 15% or 30% Vicin/Convicie-rich field beans particularly reduced the hens daily feed. This lower nutrient intake lead to reduced number of eggs and egg weight. The results demonstrated, by contrast, that the partial exchange of soya by the new Vicin/Convicin-poor winter field beans in hen feed (15/30%) had no negative effects on the hens´ daily feed intake as well as on laying perfomance, egg weight, feed conversion and breaking strength of egg shell. The results of trial 2 confirmed that a gradual increase (0/15/30/37%) of new Vicin/Convicin-poor winter field beans in hen feed did not significantly influence laying performance, egg weight and daily egg mass production of the hens. In these parameters the treatment grous did not difffer from the control group. Furthermore, the results indicated that soya feedstuffs used as protein source can be replaced in hen feed with a gmo-free, high protein sunflower extraction meal (HP 46) produced by a thermal pressure treatment and fractionation of the raw fiber.
