The impact of growing period (undersown in triticale, stubble seeds after harvest of preceding crop triticale, spring seed in the main production year) and utilization (mulching, cutting) of grass-clover ley and clover in pure stands were determined to Canada thistle. The field trial with the crop rotation triticale, legumes, winter wheat and triticale were conducted at one site in Upper Bavaria. Highest amount of thistle after harvest of the second triticale were estimated after spring seeding, lowest amount after undersowings of legumes. The factor utilization showed no difference. Hence, the longer growing period of fodder legumes seem to be the cause for lower amounts of thistle.
