Summary
Les kéfirs et les probiotiques sont des produits contenant des micro-organismes (bactéries, levures), dont les effets sont réputés bénéfiques pour la santé des animaux qui les consomment, en favorisant un bon équilibre microbien. Les premiers, plus riches en bactéries et levures que les seconds, représentent une solution intéressante pour le maintien de la santé des élevages, et une alternative à l'utilisation massive d'antibiotiques et de vaccins. Plusieurs essais, conduits en élevage porcin sur la ferme expérimentale des Trinottières et chez un éleveur, ont montré une mortalité et des taux de diarrhées moindres chez les porcelets avec l'utilisation de kéfir en lieu et place d'antibiotiques. Cette technique est applicable en agriculture biologique.

Kefirs and probiotics are products containing micro-organisms (bacteria, yeasts), whose effects are considered beneficial for the health of the animals that consume them, by promoting a good microbial balance. The first ones, richer in bacteria and yeasts than the latter, represent an interesting solution for maintaining the health of livestock farms, and an alternative to the massive use of antibiotics and vaccines. Several trials, conducted in pig farms on the Trinottières experimental farm and in one breeder, showed lower mortality and diarrhea rates in piglets with the use of kefir instead of antibiotics. This technique is applicable in organic farming.
