Summary

Summary translation

An organized community will have better commercial opportunities, it will be able to negotiate with different stakeholders and establish synergies with local authorities. In addition, organized farmers have better chances to apply for grants and funds given by the government or other institutions. Therefore, the AGROECO project component that is explained in this article focuses on working directly with smallholder farmer groups and communities to strengthen bonds between these organizations. An interview with two female farmer leaders (presidents of the National Organic Farmers Association and its regional chapter in Cusco) is also included.
