Summary
PGS can be used as a holistic development tool, particularly when embraced by traditional leadership and governance structures as has happened in 2 Pacific Islands resulting in the entire islands being managed organically through PGS. PGS can serve as a catalyst for community engagement and vision building; capacity building and farmer empowerment; improved production and marketing and environmental protection.
