Summary
Mineralen zijn nodig voor een goede weerstand, gezondheid, groei en productie van melkvee. Melkvee dat krachtvoer krijgt, heeft niet snel tekorten aan mineralen. Echter, rantsoenen van uitsluitend ruwvoeder leveren vaak onvoldoende mineralen. Met name de koper- en seleniumvoorziening staan in deze rantsoenen onder druk. Door ruwvoerrijke rantsoenen moeten biologische bedrijven dus extra aandacht besteden aan de mineralenvoorziening. Kruiden bevatten meer mineralen dan gras.
In dit Biokennisbericht meer inzicht in wat men kan verwachten van kruiden voor de mineralenvoorziening van melkvee (schapen, geiten en koeien).
Summary translation
Minerals are needed for a good resistance, health, growth and production of dairy goats, sheep and cows. Dairy animals that are fed with concentrates do generally not suffer from mineral deficiencies. However, rations consisting of roughage only are often insufficient in mineral supply. In particular, the availability of copper and selenium in these rations is on the low side. Hence, because of the roughage rations, organic farms need to pay extra attention to the mineral supply to their animals. Herbs contain more minerals than grass.
