title: Ökologische Tomatenzüchtung für das Freiland: Auslese auf Phytophthora-Feldresistenz in der F2-Generation creator: Horneburg, Bernd subject: Crop health, quality, protection subject: Breeding, genetics and propagation subject: Vegetables description: Tomatoes are the most important vegetable in Germany, but outdoor tomato produc-tion has almost ceased to exist due to increasing infections with late blight (Phyto-phthora infestans). Within organic agriculture research is done to foster the develop-ment of regionally adapted and open pollinated varieties of outdoor tomatoes. In the present experiment three crosses, including wild-, cocktail-, and beefsteak- tomatoes, were selected in the F2 generation for field resistance against late blight at one location per cross. The comparison of positive and negative selection in the F3 revealed the technique to be efficient. Other traits including yield, fruit weight, days to maturity, har-vest period and plant height showed effects differing with location and cross, but the selection for suitable traits seems to be promising. date: 2007 type: Conference paper, poster, etc. type: NonPeerReviewed format: application/pdf identifier: http://orgprints.org/9451/1/9451_Horneburg_Vortrag.pdf identifier: Horneburg, Bernd (2007) Ökologische Tomatenzüchtung für das Freiland: Auslese auf Phytophthora-Feldresistenz in der F2-Generation.
