Forskningsinsatsen ska också öka förståelsen för samspelet mellan faktorer som kvalitet och sjukdomsangrepp, ogräs angrepp, jordförhållenden, klimat och odlingsmetod. För odlaren är det av stor ekonomiskt betydelse att nå en hög grad av konsumentrelaterad kvalitet, eftersom en bra kvalitet kan motivera ett högre pris för en produkt. Det är därför viktigt att veta vilka faktorer i odlingssystemet som påverkar produktkvalitén och vilka av dessa faktorer odlaren kan styra. I denna del av projektet kommer utseende och smak att undersökas och den kemiska samansättningen mäts.
