Dies macht erforderlich, dass verstärkt Massnahmen zum Schutz des biologischen Saatguts ergriffen werden. Der biologische Landbau hält an der Forderung nach GVO-Freiheit fest und in der EU ist die Frage nach GVO-Verunreinigungen im Saatgut ungelöst. Zeigen Kontrollen eine Kontamination von Biosaatgut, sind Züchter, Vermehrer und Händler in einer sehr schwierigen Situation: zum einen können Verträge, die auf GVO-Freiheit basieren, nicht mehr eingehalten werden und zum anderen wird die Realität auf eine Grenzwertregelung, wie sie in der Schweiz bereits gilt, drängen. In der folgenden Arbeit wird untersucht, in welcher Situation die Vermehrer von biologischem Saatgut in Europa im Hinblick auf die Gefahr der Kontamination mit Saatgut von gentechnisch veränderten Pflanzen sind und welche Massnahmen ihrer Meinung nach einen Schutz bieten könnte.
