Den teoretiska idén bakom odlingssystemet är att minska förluster på grund av skadeinsekter genom att manipulera insekternas äggläggningsbeteende och genom att minska överlevnaden hos larver. Det huvudsakliga fokuset i projekt kommer att vara att minska effekten av kålflugor men i ett längre perspektiv är syftet också att utveckla en kvantitativ metod som kan användas vid utveckling av motsvarande odlingssystem för andra grönsakssorter.
