<dc:subject> Breeding, genetics and propagation</dc:subject>
<dc:description>The Organic Seed Project is financed for three years until 2006 by the COOP Naturaplan Fonds. The goal of this interdisciplinary project is to improve the use of organic seeds and transplants in Swiss organic agriculture. The project is divided into twenty sub-projects belonging to the following four main tasks:
1. Description of market demands and lacks in organic seed production.
2. Securing organic seed production, variety and seed quality (including variety trials)
3. Implementation of seed regulations and market support.
4. Knowledge transfer and extension.
One important achievement of this project, is the organicXseeds database, which is now the official instrument for organic seed registration in UK, Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg and Switzerland.
