Die Prüfung erfolgt sowohl in einem Exaktversuch in Frick wie auf Praxisbetrieben. Die Versuchsanlage in Frick ist so angelegt, dass die Sorten unter praxisüblichen, wie unter Extrembedingungen geprüft werden können (ohne Läusebekämpfung, ohne Ausdünnung und bei älteren Bäumen auch ohne Mehltau- und Regenfleckenbekämpfung). Dies erlaubt - für den Bioanbau besonders wichtige - Aussagen über die Läuseanfälligkeit, den Grad der Selbstausdünnung und nur im Bio-Anbau problematische Krankheiten zu machen.
