Important differences in biological compost quality and on the impact on soil fertility and on plant health were observed. The most important limiting factor of compost quality is the possible immobilization of mineralized nitrogen by some composts. However, quality composts have a good potential to protect plants against diseases. More attention should be paid to the control of the composting process in order to improve the biological quality of composts with more beneficial effects on crops.
