%X The use of protoplast fusion (PF) in plant breeding was often discussed between stakeholders of organic agriculture. The main criticism was the combination of genetic material under circumstances, which naturally do not exist.   The results of a literature research and expert interviews summarize the scientific and legal state of affairs in Europe and provide a basis for decision-making of standard setting bodies.
