Summary

A large number of organic fruit-growers in South Tyrol regulate scab with scab stop treatments using the overhead irrigation system. They use mainly lime sulphur, because it is particularly suitable for scab stop treatments. Treatments during blossom can also thin the flowers. The aim of the field-trials was to understand if lime sulphur applied with the overhead irrigation system gives the same thinning effect like the normal application with the sprayer. The results from the 2 years of trials show that there is no significant difference between the two application systems. Other factors like the influence of the different climatic parameters in each year play a more important role.
