Summary

Summary translation

This communication aims to analyse meso-socio-economic dynamics of french and german organic agriculture since their creation. We use the concept of project as a collective action reguled and finalized for a) to cut out meso-socio-economic reality in concepts of organisational forms, b) to produce an interpretative diagram of dynamic of these forms. Three dimensions of a project are the pillars of this theoretical approach. They are identity dimension, domination and technico-economic dimensions. These three dimensions are used to characterize the concepts of organisational forms at the meso-socio-economic level and to produce the draft of a theory of organisational coherence. This theory treats zones of coherence between three dimensions of an organization. The inconsistencies lead to producing strategies of compensation of new decouplings, of emergence of new collective actions. The application on organic agriculture makes it possible to test the interpretative capacity of this theoretical approach. The historical path of organic agriculture in France compared to that of Germany, following the implantation of an European regulation, is explained by the distortion between identity and technico-economic imensions. The recent conventionalisation of organic agriculture and the strategies of compensation which accompanies it are examined. We conclude on the contribution from our approach with respect to certain recent European research on the institutional change in organic agriculture.
