Summary

Summary translation

Decomposing leaf litter to achieve offensive control of apple scab, Venturia inaequalis, kills or weakens fungal structures which are responsible for the relevant primary infections in course of epidemiology. The scope of the project was to promote microbes and to enhance leaf decay by the use of microbiologic nutrient media and enzymes.
Distinct effects were detected for leaf decay and ascospore potential caused by the applied media, whereas a positive correlation of the decay versus the ascospore potential was the exceptional case. 19 media caused mainly a distinct reduction of ascospore potential with a reduction of up to 93 %. The cell wall-degrading enzymes showed a distinct efficacy and together with some media an enhanced efficacy.
A direct increase of ascospore release was low with an extract of Saponaria officinalis and of Rhamnus frangula, respectively. A low inhibition occurred with an extract of Citrus and a strong inhibition was detected with copper, sugar like substances and specific inhibitors, respectively.
Extracts from Inula viscosa, Quillaja saponaria-bark, citrus-species and S. officinalis revealed a distinct efficacy against apple scab in greenhouse studies on plants. ELOT-VIS, CHITOPLANT, COMCAT, LEBERMOOSER, SILIOPLANT und FZB 24 did not show sufficient efficacy with the application schedule used. Mixtures of Quillaja-saponine and sulphur reduced effectively apple scab incidence. In an experiment concerning rain stability Citrus-extract and Quillaja-saponine showed a lower efficacy against scab after a simulated rain of 5 mm. Mixtures of Citrus-extract with the adhesives GREEMAX and BIOPLUSS revealed an efficacy comparable to copperoxychloride corresponding to 400 g elementary copper per ha.
