Summary

This contribution deals with a subject that, at the latest, became topical for organic farmers since the occurence of the foot and mouth disease. It shows how livestock owners affected by an animal disease overcame the killing of the entire livestock. Cases of zoonosis not only have economical impacts on farmers, the experience leaves them traumatized. The article makes an appeal to develop special counselling programmes, which include the particular situation of organic farmers dealing with such traumatic crisis.
