Summary
Growing protein-rich roughage/silage can help increase self-sufficiency and improve the crop rotation on organic poultry farms. Different types of silage can be fed to layers daily and contribute to the poultry's nutrient requirements. The roughage/silage is allocated several times a day with a mechanical suspension system. It also keeps the layers occupied and provides activity, minimising the risk of feather pecking.
