Ce dossier, à travers divers articles et témoignages, fait un état de lieu de la filière pomme de terre bio en France. Cette production a vu ses surfaces en bio augmenter de 25 % en 2009 avec 1112 hectares. Environ 20 000 tonnes seraient produites en France, dont la moitié commercialisée en circuit long. Reste que cette filière rencontre divers problèmes importants : la maîtrise du mildiou et autres ravageurs, le problème de la conservation, la demande du marché en produits lavés (ce qui aggrave le problème de la conservation) et en produits sans défaut. Pour favoriser le développement de la filière, il faut sécuriser le marché, notamment à travers la contractualisation. Il faut aussi travailler au développement de variétés adaptées à la bio, notamment résistantes au mildiou. Certains obtenteurs commercialisent de telles variétés mais qui sont encore peu répandues, surtout face à des variétés très connues, dont on peut utiliser les plants non bio suite à des dérogations. Mais la production de plants bio se développe. De même, les acteurs cherchent à fournir de la pomme de terre toute l'année (d'où un recours moindre aux importations), à travers la maîtrise de la conservation et le développement de variétés en primeur.

This thematic folder, through various articles and testimonials, makes a state of place of the organic potato sector in France. This production saw its organic surfaces increase by 25% in 2009 with 1112 hectares. About 20,000 tonnes would be produced in France, half of which is marketed on a long circuit. Still, this sector faces several important problems: the control of late blight and other pests, the problem of conservation, the market demand for washed products (which aggravates the problem of conservation) and flawless products. To promote the development of the sector, we must secure the market, particularly through contracting. We must also work to develop varieties adapted to organic, including resistant to mildew. Some breeders market such varieties but they are still not very widespread, especially in the face of very well-known varieties, which non-organic plants can be used for derogations. But the production of organic plants is growing. Similarly, the actors are looking to supply potatoes all year round (hence less use of imports), through the control of the conservation and development of new varieties.
