Summary
Le projet de recherche PBO (pour la molécule butoxyde de pipéronyl, utilisée dans certains insecticides) a permis de tester le caractère insecticide d'huiles végétales alimentaires (tournesol, colza et sésame). L'huile de tournesol a montré des résultats intéressants, avec une action biochimique, plus particulièrement pour faire face aux insectes prédateurs des denrées stockées (charançons du blé, capucins des grains...) ou pour la protection des cultures maraîchères. Si l'huile de tournesol est prochainement approuvée en tant que substance de base (règlement européen CE n°1107/2009 relatif à la mise sur le marché des produits phytopharmaceutiques), elle pourra être directement utilisée en agriculture biologique.

The PBO research project (for the piperonyl butoxide molecule, used in some insecticides) aimed to test the insecticidal nature of edible vegetable oils (sunflower, rapeseed and sesame). Sunflower oil has shown interesting results, with a biochemical action, especially to deal with predatory insects of stored commodities (wheat weevils, grain capuchins ...) or for the protection of vegetable crops. If sunflower oil is soon approved as a basic substance (European Regulation EC No 1107/2009 on the placing on the market of plant protection products), it can be used directly in organic farming.
