Summary
During a dynamic cohort study performed in 12 randomly selected organic farms of Lower Saxony between April 2002 and April 2003, data on mastitis frequency and therapeutic measures was collected in the first place. The incidence of clinical mastitis on organic farms was 45.2 cases per 100-cow-years at risk with a broad range. Regarding the therapy of clinical mastitis cases, the differences between allopathic, homoeopathic and no therapy were apparently marginal.
