Summary

Summary translation

The objective of this project is to evaluate efficient breeding methods as well as performance levels and adaptation capacities of open-pollinated maize populations in order to make a contribution to the development of varieties suitable for the conditions of organic agriculture and to improve the availability of maize seeds at the regional and operational level. Concretley, the project entails the
1 evaluation of breeding methods for the improvement of existing maize populations with different structures and performance levels ("TP 1")
2 evaluation of performance levels of maize populations under conventional and organic growing conditions ("TP 2")
3 evaluation of the adaptation capacity of maize populations to different cultivation sites as a function of their genetic diversity ("TP 3")
4 development of a gentically diverse maize populaion which incorporates the current breeding progress ("TP 4")
5 knowledge transfer to farmers and breeders ("TP 5")
