Summary

Biologisch telen doe je in de grond. Maar (te) intensief grondgebruik leidt tot opbouw van ongewenste ziekten en plagen in de bodem. Hoe kunnen glastuinders op natuurlijke wijze deze bodemgebonden ziekten en plagen onder controle houden? Van compost is bekend dat het specifieke micro‐organismen en schimmels bevat die concurreren met ziekte verwekkende bodemschimmels. Centraal in het praktijknetwerk staat de vraag welke samenstelling van compost en welke toevoegingen aan compost effectief werken tegen de meest voorkomende ziekten en plagen in de kasbodem. In deze brochure staat compost centraal en geven we inzicht in compostprocessen en compostkwaliteit in relatie tot de bodem en gewasgroei.


Summary translation

Organic crop production is by definition soil-based. However, intensive soil use may lead to a build-up of soil pests and diseases. What are the best natural methods for organic greenhouse growers to keep soil-borne pests and diseases under control? Compost is known to contain specific bacteria and fungi that compete with pathogenic soil fungi. The central objective of the growers' network Compost compositions is to optimize the composition of compost (and use of compost additives) for effective control of the most common soil-borne pests and diseases in greenhouse crops. This brochure focuses on compost making, providing insight in composting processes, compost quality, and compost effects on soil and crop growth.
