Biogas im Ökologischen Landbau hat eine Reihe von positiven Eigenschaften neben der Produktion von erneuerbarer Energie, unter anderem sind dies ein besseren Nährstoffkreislauf auf dem Betrieb und höhere Erträge. In Deutschland gibt es viel Potenzial für einen Ausbau der Biogasproduktion mit Reststoffen aus dem Bioanbau. Es gibt etwa 150 Biogasanlagen auf Biobetrieben, aber es gibt noch Material um mehr als 600 weitere Anlagen mit Ökologischen Reststoffen zu betreiben.

Biogas in organic farming has a lot of positive impacts beside the generation of renewable energy, among others these are better nutrient cycling on the farm and increased yields. In Germany there is a lot of potential from waste materials in organic farming to run 1.975 organic biogas plants. The produced energy could supply one million households with electricity and at least 35.000 one-family-houses with heat. The biggest potential is seen in Bavaria, followed by Berlin-Brandenburg, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Hither Pomerania. But under the current political setting there are no additional constructions expected.
