Summary

Os quintais, uma das formas mais antigas de manejo da terra, consistem em uma combinação de espécies florestais, agrícolas, medicinais e ornamentais, associados, muitas vezes, à pequena criação de animais domésticos. Avaliou-se os quintais produtivos e sua contribuição para a segurança alimentar e para o desenvolvimento da agricultura sustentável. O estudo foi desenvolvido no Assentamento Alegre, município de Quixeramobim - CE. Aplicouse a metodologia Análise Diagnóstico de Sistemas Agrários, durante o Estágio de Vivência do Programa Residência Agrária (PRA), da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC). Na maioria dos quintais há fruteiras (ata, acerola, banana, mamão, laranja, mangueira etc.), ervas medicinais (hortelã, mastruz, corama, capim santo etc.) e hortaliças (cebola, coentro, pimentão etc.). Além da função ecológica e de conservarem alta diversidade de plantas na sua composição, garantem a variabilidade genética de muitas espécies. Esses quintais, enquanto sistemas agrícolas tradicionais, voltados para a subsistência, contribuem, sobretudo, para dieta alimentar e fornecimento de vários produtos e serviços ao mercado interno para melhoria da renda familiar.


Summary translation

The gardens, one of the oldest forms of land management, consisting of a combination of forest species, agricultural, medicinal and ornamental members, often the small animal husbandry. We evaluated the productive gardens and their contribution to food security and sustainable agricultural development. The study was conducted in Settlement Alegre municipality Quixeramobim - CE. We applied the Diagnostic methodology Analysis Agrarian System during Stage Housing Land Experience Program (PRA), Federal University of Ceará (UFC). In most gardens there are fruit trees (ata, acerola, banana, papaya, orange, mango etc.), Herbs (mint, mastruz, corama, lemongrass etc) and vegetables (onion, cilantro, chili etc.). Besides the ecological function and retain high plant diversity in its composition, ensuring the genetic variability of many species. These yards, while traditional agricultural systems, geared for subsistence, contribute mainly to diet and providing various products and services, therefore, the family income.
