Summary

A presente pesquisa teve por objetivo verificar como a agroecologia pode ser utilizada na construcao de um modelo sustentavel para a agricultura familiar da regiao centro-sul do Parana. A pesquisa se desenvolveu em três comunidades, Arroio Grande, Marmeleiro e Rio Vinagre. Foram avaliados os custos e as mudancas sociais ocorridas na vida dos agricultores que optaram pelo sistema de producao agroecologico, de miiho e feijao, comparativamente a producao no sistema convencional (conforme recomendacao do orgao de extensao rural). Foi avaliada tambem a eficiencia energetica, por meio da analise ecoenergetica, dos sistemas de producao, em duas das três comunidades estudadas. A analise de custo foi baseada em dados coletados em experimento de campo, onde se implantou em cada comunidade dois tratamentos (convencional e agroecologico) com tres repeticoes, cada uma numa area de 400 m2, totalizando 1200m2 por tratamento. Para a analise social foi utilizada uma abordagem qualitativa, os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas. A entrevista teve por objetivo captar as mudancas que ocorreram na vida dos agricultores ao optarem pelo sistema de producao agroecologico. A eficiencia energetica foi estimada por meio dos experimentos instalados nas comunidades estudadas. Foram contabilizadas as entradas de energia (insumos, maquinarios, combustivel, mao-de-obra) e a saida de energia (grão produzido). Com esses dados, calculou-se a eficiencia energetica, atraves da formula E = Saida/Entrada. Com relacao aos resultados de custos de producao, o sistema agroecologico se apresentou como o de menor custo para o agricultor. Na comunidade de Marmeleiro, o sistema agroecologico propiciou um saldo final positivo para o agricultor em relacao ao sistema convencional, que manteve o agricultor com uma renda final negativa. Nas demais comunidades os dois sistemas apresentaram uma renda final negativa, porem o sistema convencional gerou um prejuizo superior ao agricultor em relacao ao sistema agroecologico. Quanto a analise social ficou evidente a melhor qualidade de vida obtida pelo agricultor ao optar pelo sistema de produção agroecologico. Os principais beneficios obtidos por meio da conversao do sistema de producao foram; seguindo uma ordem de importancia: a saúde melhorou, aumentou o tempo, a vida comunitaria e familiar melhoraram, entre outros. Um aspecto que se demonstrou importante foi a retomada de praticas como a troca de servicos e o mutirao, ou seja, a solidariedade e a uniao da comunidade foram fortalecidas e consequentemente obteve-se uma melhora geral na vida do agricultor. Quanto a analise ecoenergetica ficou demonstrada uma superioridade da eficiencia energetica do sistema agroecologico em relacao ao sistema convencional. A eficiencia energetica para a cultura do milho no sistema agroecologico foi de 5,43 e 9,33, ja para o sistema convencional o resultado obtido foi de 2,42 e 3,65. Para a cultura do feijao os resultados foram os seguintes: sistema agroecologico 1,10 e 3,73 e sistema convencional 0,79 e 0,93..

Summary translation

The following research has the objetive to verify how agroecology can be used in the construction of a sustainable model for family farming of the southcentral region of Parana. The research has been developed in three communities, Arroio Grande. Marmeleiro and Rio Vinagre. An evaluation of the costs and social changes that occurred in the lives of farmers who chose an agroecologist system of the production of com and beans, in comparison with production in the conventional system (as recommended by the rural extension organ). An evaluation was also made of the energetic efficiency, by means of an ecoenergetic analysis, in the production systems, in two out of three of the communities studied. The cost analysis was based on data collected in field experiment, where two conventional treatments (conventional and agroecological) were implanted ijn each community, with three repetitions, each one in an area of 400 m2, totalling 1200 m2 per treatment. For the social analysis a qualatative approach was uses, the data being collected by means of interviews. The interview had for objective of perceiving the changes which occured in the lives of the farmers on opting for the agroecological production system.The energetic efficiency was estimated by means of the experiments installed in the communities that were studied. Accounting of the entrance of energy (raw materiais, machinery, fuel, labor) and the exit of energy (grain production). With this data, the energetic efficiency was calculated, by the formula E = Exit/Entrance. In regards to the costs of production, the agroecological system presented itself as the one with the lowest cost for the farmer. In the Marmeleiro community, the agroecological system produced a positive final result in comparison to the conventional system which kept the farmer with a negative final income. In the other communities the two systems showed a negative final income, however the conventional system produced a bigger loss to the farmer than the agroecological system. As to the social analysis it became evident the better quality of life obtained by the farmer on opting for the agroecological production system. The main benefits obtained by means of the conversion of the production system were; were the following in order of importance: health. increase in time., improvement in community and family life, amongst others. An aspect which proved important was the retaking of practices such as the exchange of jobs and the helping and working together, that is, the solidarity and the general union of the community were strengthened and consequently an overall improvement in the farmer's life was obtained.. As to the ecoenergetic analysis it showed a superiority of the energetic efficiency of the agroecological system in relation to the conventional system. The energetic efficiency for the com culture in the agroecological system was of 5,43 and 9,33, however for the conventional system the result obtained was of 2,42 and 3,65. For the bean culture the results were the following: agroecological system 1.10 and 3,73 and conventional system 0,79 and 0,93.
