Summary

Summary translation

The project was mainly aimed to develop an application system for a reliable control of grey mould (Botrytis cinerea) and powdery mildew (Podosphaera aphanis) by biological control agents (BCAs) in the organic strawberry production.
For this purpose, the effectivity of 89 BCAs against B. cinerea and P. aphanis was tested in laboratory trials. Based on these results, ten BCAs were selected for subsequent compatibility tests in dual culture and on leaf discs. These tests revealed both antagonistic and synergistic interactions between the different BCAs. Therefore combined applications of BCAs should be considered in further trials.
The efficacy of the BCAs AQ10®G (Ampelomyces quisqualis), Trichostar® (Trichoderma harzianum), FZB24®fl (Bacillus subtilis) and combinations of these towards powdery mildew was tested in two greenhouse experiments. Single treatments with all BCAs significantly reduced powdery mildew incidence. The combined application of BCAs didn`t affect the powdery mildew regulation as compared to single BCA treatments.
Initial greenhouse and field experiments with BCAs and BCA combinations to control grey mould indicated that pre-harvest treatments with Trichoderma-products might lead to the development of undesirable green mould on stored fruits.
The BCAs RhizoVital42®fl (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens), BoniProtect®forte (Aureobasidium pullulans) and Naturalis® (Beauveria bassiana) were tested against grey mould under greenhouse and field conditions. These trials revealed that pre-harvest applications with RhizoVital42®fl, BoniProtect®forte and BCA combinations could significantly reduce postharvest losses by B. cinerea on stored fruits.
Studies regarding the dynamics of the introduced BCAs and the indigenous microorganisms in the phyllosphere revealed that significantly increased cell numbers of the BCAs, except for Beauveria bassiana, could be detected in treated leaf samples. A general shift in the structure of the indigenous microflora was not observed.
