Summary

Summary translation

Blackrot is a fungal disease of apples, which is recently found in the Netherlands, originating from southern countries. The fungus hibernates on fruit mummies, and thus mainly occurs on apple cultivars that keep their mummies for a long time, like Elstar. In a three year research project the effects of the removal of fruit mummies as an infection source were studied. The results are promising: the infection rate of harvested applesis reduced by 60 – 90%.
