Summary translation
Recently a returning interest is to be observed concerning the use of draught horses in agriculture and forestry. It is expected that horse work has ecological benefits compared to tractor use. Against this background we conducted an interim on-farm experiment on draught horse vs. tractor impact on soil properties and yield in potato cropping. Results showed a reduced impact on soil properties in the draught horse treatment compared to the tractor treatment, even though cultivation measures were more frequent with the draught horse treatment and the tractor was comparably small. Differences in yield levels or tuber sortation could not be observed.
