Summary

The paper presents a summary of two studies highlighting the importance of cropping system to prevent or suppress soil-borne pathogens problems (and especially root-knot nematodes)in organic farming, and thus to maintain soil fertility. Specialised systems are not compatible with a sustainable vegetable crop production because they are too susceptible to soil-borne pathogens
