Summary

DNA markører findes på kontaktfladen mellem molekylær genetik og klassisk planteforædling. De kan bruges til de følgende formål: (1) sortsidentififikation, (2) Kvantificering af genetisk diversitet, (3) molekylær detektering af enkelt-gen egenskaber, (4) molekylær detektering af kvantitative egenskaber, (5) selektion i "widecrosses". Disse anvendelsesmuligheder beskrives nærmere i artiklen.
I bruges DNA-markører allered i mange forædlingsvirksomheder. I Danmark bruges dem primært til at teste of virusresistens og til at undersøge nedarvning af specifikke kromosomfragmenter gennem forædlingsprocessen.

DNA marker can be found on the interface between molecular genetics and classical plant breeding. They can be used for the following purposes: (1) variety identification, (2) quantification of genetic diversity, (3) molecular detection of single-gene based traits, (3) molecular detection of quantitative traits, (5) selection in "wide crosses". These purposes are described more detailed in the article. Today, marker technology is used in many plant-breeding companies. In Danmark, there are primarily used to test for virus resistance and to analyse the inheritage of specific chromosome fragments through the breeding process.
